Many people get scared of having a root canal treatment as they think it is a painful task. However, contrary to their assumptions, root canal can be an easy and totally painless procedure if done right.
However, a lot depends on a couple of things:
- How do you prepare for the treatment, and
- The quality of the dentist and clinic
In this blog, we’ll focus on how you can prepare before heading to your dentist and ensure your RCT procedure is successful as well as comfortable.
1. Choose the right clinic
As undergoing an RCT procedure can cause anxiety and tension, you need to ensure you visit the clinic or hospital that can provide you with the right treatment. Don’t hesitate to ask questions you have and get convinced by them.
2. Avoid alcohol and tobacco
Ensure you don’t take substances such as alcohol and tobacco for a full 24 hours before the procedure. In the RCT procedure, the dentist will inject the gums with a local anesthetic, which will have an adverse reaction to tobacco and alcohol.
3. Sleep well a day before the procedure
You might think your treatment is for your teeth and not for your body, so you don’t need a good rest. But that’s not true. Get a good sleep before your treatment day to ensure your body is in top form for the procedure.
4. Eating before your treatment
Your mouth will feel numb for hours afterward, making it difficult to eat. So eating a couple of hours prior to the procedure will make a recovery much more comfortable.
5. Take painkillers before the treatment
Even though the treatment may not be as painful as it used to be in the past, it is advisable to take painkillers a few hours before the treatment starts. However, make sure to consult with your dentist for the best recommendation.
